3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 2/28/20

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars

Pierre-Luc Dubois, Center, Columbus Blue Jackets

FanDuel Price: $5,400

The Minnesota Wild are on the tail-end of a back-to-back which means they are likely to roll with Devan Dubnyk in net. Dubnyk has been terrible this season, posting a horrific 3.34 goals-against average (GAA) and a .892 save percentage (SV%).

Pierre-Luc Dubois is in a fantastic spot because of this. The Columbus Blue Jackets have been completely destroyed by injuries, but they keep trucking along. Dubois is playing on a line with Gustav Nyquist who he also plays with on the top power-play unit. Dubois is having a decent season with 18 goals and 46 points in 65 games and looks to add to that tonight.

Justin Williams, Winger, Carolina Hurricanes

FanDuel Price: $3,500

Justin Williams has played just 14 games this season as he signed with the Carolina Hurricanes near the end of January. He has just 5 points in this time frame, but his 34 shots on goal are at least encouraging. He is very cheap and is the top point-per-dollar winger on the slate, as per our projections.

This is not an easy matchup, despite being at home, as the Hurricanes host the Colorado Avalanche who will be rolling with Pavel Francouz who has been fantastic this season. Williams is very cheap and plays on the Hurricanes top power-play unit which is where the value comes from.

Nate Schmidt, Defense, Vegas Golden Knights

FanDuel Price: $4,200

The Vegas Golden Knights are, in my opinion, the best team in the Western Conference. They have not necessarily shown this year, but with some tweaks at the deadline and a coaching change, they are my favorite team to come out of the West. Since the firing of Gerard Gallant, the Golden Knights have gone 11-3-2 and have clearly, at least for now, turned things around.

Nate Schmidt is sort of a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. He has a reasonable 7 goals, 30 points, 102 shots (1.92 per game) and 84 blocks (1.58 per game). None of these stand out, but they are all good. Schmidt is the top point-per-dollar defenseman on the slate and projected for the fourth-most points among defenseman despite being priced as the 15th most expensive.
