4 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 1/27/20

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars

Sam Steel, Center, Anaheim Ducks

FanDuel Price: $3,600

The sophomore season for Sam Steel has been a disaster. After putting up a modest 11 points in 22 games last season, Steel has a lowly 15 points in 43 games this season. He does have a solid matchup, despite being on the road, as the Anaheim Ducks take on the San Jose Sharks — a team that has allowed 3.32 goals against per game.

Steel plays on the team's second power-play unit, which normally would be something to at least be a little excited for but the Ducks have the 28th ranked penalty kill and the Sharks have the number one ranked power play.

Anthony Duclair, Winger, Ottawa Senators

FanDuel Price: $4,200

Another slate with the Ottawa Senators on it and another slate where Anthony Duclair is severely underpriced. Duclair followed up an incredible December in which he potted 11 goals and 16 points in 13 games with an abysmal 0 goals and 2 points in 7 January games heading into the All-Star break.

Despite the slow January, Duclair is in a great position to produce tonight. He plays on the Sens top line at even strength and the top power-play unit. In addition, the matchup tonight is great against the New Jersey Devils who allow 3.52 goals against per game which is the second-most in the NHL.

Ilya Kovalchuk, Winger, Montreal Canadiens

FanDuel Price: $4,400

Ilya Kovalchuk has been fantastic since being traded to the Montreal Canadiens. In eight games, he has managed to put up four goals and four assists, averaging a point-per-game. After an underwhelming 9 points in 17 games to start the season and an equally unimpressive 34 points in 64 games last season, Kovalchuk seems to have rejuvenated his career, at least for not.

The matchup isn't the greatest against the Washington Capitals, but Kovalchuk plays on the top line at even strength and is averaging more than four more minutes per game of ice-time which is certainly a large factor into his success in Montreal.

Sami Vatanen, Defense, New Jersey Devils

FanDuel Price: $4,500

Sami Vatanen has been fairly productive this season with 22 points in 44 games while averaging 2.07 shots per game and 1.68 blocks per game. He plays on the team's second pair with Damon Severson and the two of them play the point on the Devils top power-play unit.

The Devils have an abysmal power play, however, as their 13.9 percent conversion rate ranks 30th, but being on the power play is still better than not. Furthermore, the Senators allow 3.33 goals against per game which is the third-most in the NHL.
