NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 1/10/20
On a tidy three-game NHL slate, is Andrei Svechnikov someone to roster tonight?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.

Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Marcus Hogberg ($7,100): The limited slate has a short list of ways to go, as three games means only six goaltenders to choose from. Hogberg was already confirmed to start by the Ottawa Senators and faces one woeful Detroit Red Wings team on Friday night. Hogberg has been far from amazing but has held his own at times. In three of his last four starts, he has faced 35-plus shots, which is a positive. The negative is yielding four-plus goals in each of them. This is an extreme GPP risk but given the other goalies on the card tonight, this may be a play to save some money. See who starts for the Pittsburgh Penguins, too. If it is Tristan Jarry ($8,700), then pivot there. If not, Philipp Grubauer ($7,800) could be an option.

High-Priced Skaters

Nathan MacKinnon ($9,200): The center is producing well, though he has cooled off a bit of late, posting 18.4 and 11.2 FanDuel points the last two games. Regardless, Colorado's driving force should have a very good matchup against Pittsburgh. MacKinnon has fired 28 shots on net in his last five games with 19 scoring chances. He is the best forward on this DFS slate for a reason. Even the specter of Sidney Crosby returning soon does not diminish this fact. Sebastian Aho ($7,600) is going against a tired Arizona Coyotes team as one alternative, too.

Andrei Svechnikov ($6,300): Svechnikov is the seventh-highest priced winger on the slate. He is among the top-three in point production, however. The winger has 12 shots on net in his last three games and is on the top line for Carolina. Again, this is a Hurricanes team that thrives on relentless attack, and that can pay off against a fatigued bunch of Coyotes. They are third in shots on goal, averaging 34.2 a night. Also, the top line over the past 20 games is fifth in scoring chances created among top lines. Svechnikov also sees solid power-play time now, which is a big reason why Carolina's power play ranks seventh in the NHL. Mikko Rantanen ($8,100) has three shots combined in his previous two games but is the best backup option on Friday.

Value Skaters

Robby Fabbri ($3,800): Fabbri can be risky due to erratic shot volume but does have three real-world points in his last five games. Occasionally, he will block a few shots, as well, which adds to his floor. It is hard to find first-line players under $4,000 on a short slate, but the winger is one of them. The Red Wings' forward does have a good matchup against Ottawa, who has allowed 26 goals in their last five games and 3.87 goals per game on the road this season. Andre Burakovsky ($3,800) is another value option from Colorado, who gets top-six minutes typically.

John Marino ($4,100): Marino has picked up assists in his last two games for Pittsburgh and could be a sneaky option again on Friday against Colorado. He averages nearly 1.5 blocks and 1.3 shots per game, which is decent for a value defenseman. Jakob Chychrun ($3,900) is another value floor play going up against Carolina.
