4 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 12/3/19
The Canucks are in a dream spot tonight at home against the Senators. Are they the top stack of the night for cash games and tournaments?

When playing NHL DFS -- much like MLB DFS -- stacking is key. Having multiple players from the same team, who correlate together, can give your lineup upside and help you maximize potential points.

You can roster up to four players from the same team in NHL, and you should look to have players from the same forward line or power-play unit together. Shared ice time is the key, as it will maximize their ability to contribute to real-life goals with each other, ultimately leading to more fantasy points for us.

Generally, we don't see late scratches in the NHL, and the team's lines are confirmed at practice or before the game. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team.

Vancouver Canucks

We have a 10-game slate tonight and one of the most popular teams should be the Vancouver Canucks.

With 10 games in action tonight, we should see ownership spread out for the most part, outside of the Canucks. They are at home as strong -165 favorites, and they can be used in cash games or tournaments. This is because they are facing off against the Ottawa Senators, who -- as mentioned plenty of times before -- are a terrible team. They are in the bottom-10 for both Corsi Against and the number of High-Danger-Scoring-Chances per 60, while bottom half of the league in expected goals against. All of this gives the Canucks a slate-high 3.58 implied goal total.

The first forward line for the Canucks is buzzing right now, with 11 points and 46 shots in their last five games. That line consists of J.T. Miller ($6,300), Brock Boeser ($7,500), and Elias Pettersson ($7,400), who are all on the first power-play together and certainly aren't cheap. You should try to add Quinn Hughes ($4,700) to that line, and with this being a 10-game slate, you will be able to find the savings to afford them tonight.

Washington Capitals

Guess what? The Washington Capitals are on the slate with a high 3.36 implied goal total. You should stack them.

It's a given at this point that you want some exposure to the Capitals when they are in action, since they -- along with the Boston Bruins -- are putting up goals better than anyone in the league right now. They are facing the San Jose Sharks, who have turned things around in a big way this season but still have Martin Jones in net. Despite a strong string of starts, he is still allowing over three goals per game and has a save percentage under .900.

Even with the Capitals on the road, their implied goal total is too good to pass on, and their second forward line might be the spot to look at. Jakub Vrana ($6,000), T.J. Oshie ($6,800), and Lars Eller ($4,800) are that second forward line and have a surprising 12 points and 41 shots in their last five games.

Minnesota Wild

I don't love doing this, but I think the Minnesota Wild are a viable stack tonight.

They are on the road, and while a seemingly low 2.84 implied team total isn't amazing, they are up against the Florida Panthers, who will have Chris Driedger in net. He is making his second ever NHL start behind a questionable Panthers defense. This makes the Wild a bit interesting tonight, combined with the fact they aren't that expensive, thus easing the process of roster construction.

The second forward line has full ice-time correlation to the first power-play unit and should be lower owned tonight. That line is made up of Mikko Koivu ($4,700), Zach Parise ($6,500), and Kevin Fiala ($4,700), who leads the team in shots over the past five games. An inexperienced goalie in net and friendly pricing make the Wild usable in tournaments tonight.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Since firing their coach, the Toronto Maple Leafs are 4-1, scoring three goals or more in four of those five games.

A change behind the bench and everything is looking up in Toronto, along with bringing us a great stacking option tonight. They are up against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, where the over/under is set at 6.5 goals, and if there is any game on the slate to truly hit the over, it should be this game. Both teams have implied goal totals over 3.15, putting us in a good spot. A game stack is certainly viable here, but if you are looking at just the Maple Leafs, don't look past their first forward line.

Auston Matthews ($8,400) leads the way with four points in his last five games, William Nylander ($5,900), is starting to come into his own with 20 shots in the last five games, and Andreas Johnsson ($5,000) isn't expensive and also pouring in four points in the last five. It's a well-rounded stack that has upside if this game gets out of hand.
