NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Thursday 10/17/19

Thursday night features a big nine-game slate with a marquis matchup between Boston and Tampa Bay. Where else should you be looking tonight on FanDuel?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.

And our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Alex Stalock ($7,300): The Minnesota Wild goalie expects to face the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night. Stalock presents himself as a high-risk GPP play with a mitigating factor -- his low price. Stalock shut out (26 saves) the Ottawa Senators in his only start of the season, which happens to be Minnesota's only win. Connor Hellebuyck ($7,800) may be a buy-low option tonight against the New York Islanders, and even Jonathan Quick ($7,100) against a non-rested Buffalo Sabres squad.

High-Priced Skaters

Mika Zibanejad ($7,600): The center enjoys an excellent matchup against the winless New Jersey Devils tonight. He has eight real-world points in three games, even after posting a clunker against the Edmonton Oilers (4.8 FanDuel points). Zibanejad will see heavy time on the power play against New Jersey's 30th ranked penalty kill. Pairing McDavid with Artemi Panarin ($7,800) is possible in some lineups. Several other players are viable tonight including Brayden Point ($7,600) and Anze Kopitar ($7,400), the latter of whom gets that non-rested Buffalo team.

David Pastrnak ($8,500): Pastrnak becomes a simpler play tonight with the Filip Forsberg injury news (likely concussion). The Boston Bruins winger recently exploded for four goals on five shots against the Anaheim Ducks. That gave him 10 real-world points on the season in just six games. The Boston forward averages over a point a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning and generates an expected goals for around 60%. Mark Stone ($7,700) is another great play on Thursday against his former team, the Ottawa Senators.

Value Skaters

Calle Jarnkrok ($3,600): The Forsberg news helps Jarnkrok stay in the top-six. He also has double-digit FanDuel points in four straight games now. Overall, the forward has five real-world points in six contests in 2019-20. Jarnkrok may even see more power play time as well. Conor Garland ($3,400) may play more in the top-six for the Arizona Coyotes tonight, and he is dirt cheap with goal potential. He has three goals in five games.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($3,400): The middle-six center provides some offensive spark and can block some shots on occasion. He averages almost two shots and one block a night. This is all while scoring a goal and three assists in five games. Pageau could provide a few matchup problems against the Vegas Golden Knights defense as they do allow nearly 35 scoring chances per 60 at home. Pavel Zacha ($3,600) is a moderate-risk play on Thursday against the New York Rangers given his cheap price and three-point performance against the Florida Panthers.
