NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Tuesday 4/23/19
A pair of decisive Game 7's greet us on Tuesday. Can Martin Jones turn in another stellar outing to help the Sharks advance?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.

And our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Martin Jones ($7,500): Jones will start against the Vegas Golden Knights for the third time facing elimination. Jones was downright masterful in Game 6 stopping 58 of 59 shots -- many of the high-danger variety. It was a performance few expected, but when everything went wrong the San Jose Sharks goalie rose to the challenge. Can he do it one more time? Vegas was flat out dominant in Game 6 and still lost. What will they have left for Game 7? That has been a question asked for the last 36 hours. Jones is the cheapest goalie on the slate but also carries the most risk. The other options all carry their own paths of peril as well, however, so the low price-tag and upside that comes from facing a ton of shots gives Jones the edge. The early implied total for Vegas is 2.68 goals, which is only a hair higher than Toronto at 2.67.

High-Priced Skaters

Tomas Hertl ($7,100): Hertl was invisible for 80+ minutes against Vegas on Sunday night and then shot out of his own zone like a dart. He fired a shot on net and it eluded Marc-Andre Fleury. The game-winning short-handed goal was unexpected and just like that the center hit value again for San Jose. Also, it forced a Game 7 which he did guarantee. Hertl has fired 3-plus scoring chances in five of the six games in this series and has real-world points in four of them. He also still averaged 5.5 shots per game in the two contests in which he didn't score. The San Jose forward is not afraid to fire shots on net or from anywhere towards the net. Auston Matthews ($8,500) is our secondary choice for consistently putting up 20-plus FanDuel points in the previous four games.

David Pastrnak ($8,300): Boston is likely a wise choice on Tuesday night given the history of Toronto in Game 7's. Leafs narrative or not, Pastrnak has real-world points in three straight games, with two goals and three assists in that time. That scoring comes on 16 shots on goal, with 28 shot attempts and 11 scoring chances. The Maple Leafs have much difficulty containing the winger when he creates the space he can with his quick release. Pastrnak also has a nose for the net and can find space in close as well. 17 of his 38 goals on the season were on the man advantage and the scary part is Pastrnak has only had one explosive games this entire series. One gets the feeling another may be coming as favorites in Game 7. On the other side of this matchup, Mitchell Marner ($7,700) is high-risk but high-reward option.

Value Skaters

Sean Kuraly ($3,200): This is an immensely dangerous choice. However, Kuraly has a few games under his belt and had a few scoring chances in Game 6, but didn't manage to notch any goals. He's a fast skater on the wing and Toronto has had problems in this series when Kuraly is on the ice. Do not expect the winger to play more than 14-15 minutes but he is one of those wildcards who could make a big impact with his above average wrist shot and ability to create offense.

Colin Miller ($3,900): Miller is a high-risk GPP option on Tuesday against San Jose. As an added bonus, he's actually shown a solid floor over the past few games as well, with 8 shots on goal and 11 blocked shots in this series so far, averaging a combined 3.8 per game. Miller's price is low enough to make him a viable punt on such a tough short slate. Another defensive option that is cheap may be Brandon Carlo ($3,500). At the minimum price for defenders, his average of 20-plus minutes of ice time and a combined 2.8 shots and blocked shots per game are solid.
