NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 2/4/19
Auston Matthews offers big upside in a great matchup against the Ducks. Who else can you trust on today's four-game slate?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.

To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Ben Bishop ($8,700): The Dallas Stars are a good proposition on Monday night as Bishop is projected to start against the Arizona Coyotes. We shouldn't expect many shots from the Coyotes, bringing an average of 30.2 per game into a tough matchup that could hold them below that average. That low number is not great, but our models project Dallas for a 57,1% chance of winning. If Bishop yields two goals or fewer, that is a solid return on value. Bishop is likely to be the second, maybe third highest-owned goalie on the night. Carter Hart ($8,400) of the Philadelphia Flyers also draws a good matchup against the Vancouver Canucks and Frederik Andersen ($8,700) represents the chalk on Monday night from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

High-Priced Skaters

Auston Matthews ($8,100): Matthews enjoys a great matchup against the Anaheim Ducks tonight. He topped 20 FanDuel points in each of his last three games, and Anaheim has given up 19 goals in their last five games -- including nine against Winnipeg over the weekend. The probability that the Ducks allow 35-plus shots is high on Monday. Their penalty kill has dropped to just 78% on the road and their team defense cannot sustain puck pressure. Defensively, Anaheim allows over 35 shots a game along with the second-most scoring chances in the league. Claude Giroux ($7,200) and Mika Zibanejad ($7,100) are also nice high-priced options on Monday night for tournament or cash plays.

Jakub Voracek ($6,700): Voracek carries some risk because of his lack of goal production. He does have six assists in the last three games, however. Ten shots and 11 scoring chances in this span are intriguing and create some room for optimism that Voracek will start scoring goals sometime soon. One goal in the last dozen games heightens the danger of the play, but Philadelphia's power play has shown signs of life -- including four goals against the Edmonton Oilers. Some others dangerous options on the wing include Alexander Radulov ($6,400) and Mats Zuccarello ($5,800).

Value Skaters

Oskar Lindblom ($3,900): This is probably more of a tournament play in Lindblom, but Philadelphia's biggest reason for their seven game winning streak is their depth scoring. Lindblom has exceeded 13 FanDuel points in his last three outings. His shot output has gone up to 3.25 shots per game over the last four contests. His speed and ability to shoot quickly on net have become a major asset for the Flyers especially at even strength. Teams playing against Philadelphia have had a difficult time slowing down Lindblom. Other choices are Conor Garland ($3,700) and Mattias Janmark ($3,600).

Neal Pionk ($3,500): The highest risk value play on the night is Pionk of the New York Rangers. Pionk fired six shots on net against Tampa Bay on Saturday night and three of those were medium or high-danger chances. It was the first signs of life from Pionk in what felt like weeks. After a hot, early start, Pionk cooled off dramatically in December and January. The hope is that the punt play can exploit a Los Angeles Kings team that is slow to block shots from the point. Alex Goligoski ($3,800) may be a contrarian option from Arizona and has 24 blocks over the previous six contests.
