Bears and Khalil Mack agree to 6-year, $141M contract extension
The Chicago Bears and linebacker Khalil Mack have agreed to a record-setting six-year, $141M contract extension, making him the highest -paid defensive player in the NFL, per Adam Schefter of ESPN
The Bears acquired Mack, along with a 2020 second-round pick, earlier in the day for a 2019 and 2020 first-round pick, and a 2020 third-round pick. The former NFL Defensive Player of the Year will receive $90M in guaranteed money which includes a $60M signing bonus. His deal surpasses the one signed by Los Angeles Rams lineman Aaron Donald earlier this week.
The Bears owned the eighth-best overall defense, per our metrics, before the trade for Mack.
