Aaron Donald gets new deal from Rams, now league's highest-paid defender

Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald signed a 6-year, $135 million extension through 2024.

What It Means:

Donald will earn $22.5 million per year under the new deal, making him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has 39 sacks through four seasons and is widely considered the best at his position. He turned 27 in May.
