Adrian Peterson reportedly signing with Washington
Free agent running back Adrian Peterson has agreed to a deal with the Washington Redskins, reports Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
The deal is for one season. Washington needed help in the backfield following injuries to Derrius Guice (ACL), Samaje Perine (ankle), and Byron Marshall (ankle). Peterson is 33 and looked pretty washed up in 10 games for the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals last season, but he figures to compete with Rob Kelley for an early-down role. The future Hall-of-Famer is 37 rushing yards short of cracking the top-10 all-time.
Peterson rushed 156 times for 529 yards and 2 touchdowns last season, in addition to catching 11 passes for 70 scoreless yards on 19 targets.
