Chris Godwin in line to start for Buccaneers this season
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is expected to start opposite Mike Evans this season, writes Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
Stroud considers Godwin to be a "more complete player" than DeSean Jackson, who has been working in the slot "increasingly" during camp when the Buccaneers go four-wide. Head coach Dirk Koetter also believes the second-year receiver is starter-worthy. "We look at it as if we have four starting receivers," Koetter said, referring to Godwin, Jackson, Mike Evans, and Adam Humphries. "All four of those guys, the only guy that really hasn't been a starter (in the NFL) is Chris. The other three have been, and we believe Chris is every bit in that same category.'' The 2017 third-round pick racked up 209 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 catches over the final two games of his rookie campaign.
numberFire's models currently project Godwin to catch 44.7 passes (76.5 targets) for 569.5 yards and 2.69 touchdowns in his second NFL season. He's the WR65 in our preseason fantasy rankings.
