Dallas Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers did not make the cut in Star Telegram's Drew Davison's 53-man roster projection.
The legend of Rico Gathers emerged last preseason, as the mammoth tight end caugh seven passes for 106 yards and two scores in two games. He suffered a concussion, however, and spent the entire regular season on injured reserve. With Jason Witten retired now, Gathers would seem to have a path to playing time, but he has been used mostly as a blocker this offseason.
Our models currently project Gathers for the most fantasy points among Dallas tight ends, with 220 yards and 1.4 touchdowns on 21 catches -- the 47th-best projection among fantasy tight ends this year.
