Derrius Guice expected to be Washington's lead back
Washington rookie running back Derrius Guice is all but certain to open the season as the starter, ESPN's John Keim writes.
Specifically, Keim writes that "it would be surprising" if Washington did not put their talented second-round rookie in the starting job. Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine are also options, but Guice should easily beat them out. Chris Thompson is certain to be involved in the passing game, but head coach Jay Gruden seemed impressed with Guice's receiving skills in the offseason program.
Our models project Guice for 865 rushing yards and 6.3 touchdowns on 220 carries, adding 23 catches for 184 receiving yards and 1.0 scores. That would put him as our 23rd-best fantasy running back in the 2018 season.
