Rex Burkhead, James White seeing bulk of Patriots' first-team work

New England Patriots running backs Rex Burkhead and James White have been handling the "majority of the first-team reps" this spring, writes NESN's Zack Cox.

What It Means:

Burkhead and White appear to have the advantage for now, but Cox believes that Sony Michel, the 31st overall pick in this year's draft, could emerge as the Patriots' lead back by the time Week 1 arrives. All three backs should be able to provide value at different points throughout the season but inconsistent usage may be a problem for fantasy owners.

numberFire's models currently project Burkhead to rush 98.9 times for 531.4 yards and 5.75 touchdowns, as well as 43.9 catches for 367.1 yards and 2.97 touchdowns. White is pegged for 40.3 carries, 196.5 yards, and 1.49 touchdowns, in addition to 47.0 catches for 358.0 yards and 2.90 receiving scores.
