Lions see rookie Kerryon Johnson as a three-down back
Detroit Lions rookie running back Kerryon Johnson is expected to play a significant role in this first seasons as the running backs coach David Walker sees him as a "three-down player."
Johnson led the SEC in rushing while at Auburn in 2017 and was drafted with the 43rd overall pick in April by Detroit. Despite the high-praise, Johnson will have his work cut out for him to earn a workhorse role as the Lions signed LeGarrette Blount in the offseason and still have pass-catching specialist Theo Riddick on the roster.
Our models project Johnson for 91.1 touches, 395.7 total yards, and 2.1 touchdowns in his rookie season.
