Jets waive Bryce Petty

The New York Jets have waived quarterback Bryce Petty, reports Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

What It Means:

After drafting quarterback Sam Darnold with the third overall pick, the Jets were going to cut one of their other quarterbacks, not including Josh McCown. A fourth-round pick in 2015, Petty hasn't panned out after starting seven games in the last two seasons. He could certainly be picked up by another team for some depth at the position.

This past season, Petty totaled 599 total yards, completing less than 50% of his passes for just 1 touchdown to 3 interceptions.
