The Washington Redskins released defensive lineman Terrell McClain, reports John Keim of ESPN.com.
McClain signed a four-year deal with Washington last offseason but was deemed expendable after the team selected a pair of defensive lineman -- Da'Ron Payne in the first round and defensive tackle Tim Settle in the fifth -- in last weekend's draft. McClain turns 30 before the start of next season.
McClain recorded 20 tackles (17 solo) with 2 sacks in 12 games last season.
