Cecil Shorts (hamstring) ruled out for Texans Week 7
Houston Texans wide receiver Cecil Shorts (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins.
Shorts missed the team's contest in Week 5 before returning and seeing six targets in Week 6. This could mean additional targets again for Keith Mumphery, who saw eight targets in the game Shorts missed.
Shorts has had back to back difficult seasons. He finished last year with the worst Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target out of 58 receivers with at least 80 targets. This year, Shorts is again 58th out of 63 receivers with at least 25 targets. If Mumphery or fellow rookie Jaelen Strong can prove to be efficient, they could easily supplant Shorts in the starting lineup when he is healthy.
