Jaguars cutting costs, releasing Marcedes Lewis

According to the Associated Press' Mark Long, the Jacksonville Jaguars have released tight end Marcedes Lewis after 12 seasons with the team.

What It Means:

Jacksonville picked up Lewis' option in February, but that before signing both Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Niles Paul in free agency. With Lewis set to be the third guy at the position, it makes sense to save themselves $3.5 million toward the cap.

In 16 games, Lewis accounted for 24 catches, 318 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2017.
