The Dallas Cowboys will release cornerback Orlando Scandrick, reports Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett informed Scandrick that the team would be letting him go on Monday. The 31-year-old had requested his release and will become a free agent after spending nine seasons with the franchise. Byron Jones is expected to be converted to corner and is a candidate to take over for the veteran.
This past season, Scandrick ranked outside Pro Football Focus' top-100 corners as he tallied just 32 tackles and 3 passes defensed in 11 games.
