The New England Patriots and strong safety Patrick Chung have agreed to a short-term contract extension, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
This is Chung's second short-term extension in the past nine months. The details are unknown at this time. Chung was set to make $2 million in the final year of his contract in 2018. In retaining the 30-year-old, the Patriots will have a solid veteran defense on the back end, having acquired Jason McCourty -- also 30 -- earlier this week.
This past season, Chung racked up 67 tackles, 9 passes defensed and 1 interception in 16 games.
