Josh McCown re-signs with Jets, reportedly named starter for 2018

New York Jets quarterback Josh McCown was re-signed to a 1-year, $10 million contract and informed he will be the team's starter in 2018, reports Calvin Watkins of Newsday Sports.

What It Means:

Per Watkins, the Jets remain interested in Teddy Bridgewater, who is the team's "top choice," according to an earlier report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. McCown turns 39 in a few months and has appeared in double-digit games just three times over his 14-year career, so don't be surprised if the Jets add at least one more quarterback to the roster before Week 1, whether it be via free agency or the draft.

McCown averaged 16.5 FanDuel points in 13 games last season, with 2,926 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. He also added 124 rushing yards and 5 scores on the ground.
