The Carolina Panthers have released veteran running back Jonathan Stewart.
Carolina is expected to save around $3.7 million against the salary cap. The move ends Stewart's 10-year tenure with the franchise, and he leaves as their all-time leading rusher with 7,318 rushing yards. He will be 31 entering the 2018 season.
Last season, Stewart rushed for 680 yards across 15 games, averaging a career-low 3.4 yards per carry.
