Rams' GM: 'A goal of ours' to keep Sammy Watkins

Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead confirmed that the team wants to re-sign free agent wide receiver Sammy Watkins.

What It Means:

Snead said, "I know this -- going from 32nd to first in offense, Sammy was a big part of it down the stretch." He added that the Rams are hoping to keep their core together and compete with all their young talent. The belief is that if the two sides can't reach a long-term deal, the Rams will franchise Watkins for the 2018 season.

Over 15 games (14 starts), Watkins hauled in 39-of-70 targets for 593 yards and 8 scores. He ended the year with 107.3 fantasy points and 8.1 FanDuel points per game.
