Falcons sign tight end Tony Moeaki

The Atlanta Falcons signed tight end Tony Moeaki.

What It Means:

With Jacob Tamme in the league's concussion protocol, the team was threadbare at the tight end position. Moeaki was cut by the Falcons on their way down to 53-man rosters, not being able to beat out the aging veteran Tamme and blocker Levine Toilolo. He has spent the last month recovering from an ankle injury, but will now back up Toilolo.

In his 2014 campaign with the Buffalo Bills, Moeaki saw only limited action, receiving just 13 targets. He brought in 8 of those for 10.59 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) and 5.96 Target NEP. He's versatile, but will primarily be used as an extra blocker for offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's run game. Moeaki is not a fantasy factor.
