Steelers' Le'Veon Bell says he'd consider sitting out season, retiring if he's franchise tagged for second straight season

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell said that, if handed the franchise tag for the second straight year, he would consider sitting out the 2018 season or retiring.

What It Means:

In speaking to ESPN, Bell said, "I hope it doesn't come to that, but I would definitely consider it." The All-Pro back reiterated that he just wants to be properly valued. "I know what I do and what I bring to the table." He does have a point with his work in both the rushing game and passing game out of the backfield. He made $12.1 million under the franchise tag this season. If tagged in 2018, he'll get $14.5 million as he enters his sixth NFL season.

In averaging 19.9 FanDuel points per game, Bell ran for 1,291 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2017. He's projected to produce 18.6 FD points at a cost of $9,400 in this week's Divisional Round matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
