ESPN's Rich Cimini is reporting that New York Jets running back Matt Forte's "days are numbered" with the team.
Dealing with a knee injury, Forte was sent to injured reserve and missed the team's last game of the season. The 32-year-old played in 12 games this season, but he split time with both Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire, and getting his $4 million contract off the books would create $3 million in cap space heading into this offseason. The Jets could certainly look to get younger by drafting a running back this April.
En route to averaging 8.5 FanDuel points per game, Forte turned 103 carries and 37 catches into 674 total yards and 3 touchdowns this season. He hasn't played a full 16-game season since 2014.
