Bears hire ex-Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy as head coach

The Chicago Bears hired former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy as head coach.

What It Means:

Nagy took over play-calling duties for the Chiefs late in the season and was reportedly high on Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky heading into last year's draft, so that figures to have played a role into the hiring. The Bears finished 29th in the NFL with 16.5 points per game this season. Meanwhile, the Chiefs averaged 27.3 points in the six games (including playoffs) that Nagy was calling the shots on offense.

The Bears ranked 27th in the NFL this season in Adjusted Offensive Net Expected Points per play.
