Saints expect Drew Brees to start Week 4
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said Friday that he expects quarterback Drew Brees to start for the team in Week 4, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Brees was able to throw Thursday, which convinced Payton that he could play. Brees missed the team's Week 3 matchup after sustaining a shoulder injury in Week 2.
This does not mean that Brees will necessarily be effective, as there are concerns over the velocity on his throws. He is currently 18th in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) at 7.00. Their Week 4 opponent, the New Orleans Saints, are 12th in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play, so the stars really aren't aligning for a great Brees performance. It may be best to hold off and see how Brees fares before unleashing him on your fantasy roster.
