Broncos' Derek Wolfe told to rest neck, season likely over

Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe (neck) will likely be placed on injured reserve, reports Mike Klis of 9 News Denver.

What It Means:

Dr. Robert Watkins, an acclaimed spine surgeon, told Wolfe that his neck injury won't require surgery, but that he will need to rest for a few months. "As much as I’d like to get back out there and keep playing," Wolfe explained, "when a spinal doctor tells you that you can lose use of your right arm if you don’t rest and heal properly, you listen." It's a significant loss for the 3-9 Broncos as they prepare for the New York Jets in Week 14.

Wolfe recorded 31 tackles (22 solo) with 2 sacks in 11 games this season. Entering Week 14, the Broncos rank 3rd in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
