Eagles sign Caleb Sturgis to replace Cody Parkey
Kicker Caleb Sturgis, formerly of the Miami Dolphins, has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.
What It Means:
Cody Parkey (groin) is headed to injured reserve. Sturgis has a big leg, but is just a 77.5 percent career field goal kicker. Typically 80 percent is considered the "acceptable" threshold. With the Eagles' offense off to a slow start, Sturgis isn't necessarily a plug-and-play replacement for Parkey.
