Panthers' Charles Johnson banned 4 games for performance-enhancers
Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Charles Johnson has been suspended by the National Football League four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
"I have been recovering from back surgery, dealing with the daily grind of football and mistakenly thought this could help. It was an error in judgement on my part," said Johnson in his apology. "Regretfully I have disappointed people, but I promise to come back ready to redeem myself when this suspension is over." Johnson will be eligible to return in Week 17 versus the Atlanta Falcons.
Johnson has 16 tackles (6 solo) in 11 games this season. Entering Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints, the Panthers rank 5th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
