Jimmy Garoppolo to make first start for 49ers in Week 13 versus Bears
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will start against the Chicago Bears in Week 13, the team announced Tuesday.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said quarterback C.J. Beathard is "pretty banged up" after suffering a knee contusion and hip strain late in Sunday's Week 12 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, so this doesn't come as a huge surprise. After relieving Beathard in Week 12, Garoppolo went 2-for-2 for 18 yards and a touchdown late in garbage time. This will be his first start for San Francisco since being acquired from the New England Patriots earlier this season.
Garoppolo completed 63-of-94 passes (67.0 percent) for 690 yards with 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions during his career with the Patriots.
