Buccaneers shut down Jameis Winston (shoulder) for a couple weeks, Ryan Fitzpatrick will start
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter says he is shutting down quarterback Jameis Winston for the next few weeks to help his ailing shoulder.
What It Means:
Winston has been playing through the injury, but he got pulled at halftime on Sunday, and it was evident something was wrong. Team doctors reportedly recommended shutting down Winston, so Ryan Fitzpatrick will take over the quarterback duties. He will start Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints, and probably in a revenge game against the New York Jets in Week 10. They play the Dolphins in Week 11, which would have been the Bucs' bye week if it weren't for Hurricane Irma.
After playing only a half of football in Week 9, Winston accumulated just 3.48 FanDuel points after an original projection of 19.6.
