Jason Witten 'not a lock' to play Week 3 for Cowboys
It is "not a lock" that Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will play in Week, according to Ed Werder of ESPN.
Witten suffered two sprained ankles and a sprained knee in the team's Week 2 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Witten has not missed a game since 2006, but if he can't go, Gavin Escobar will likely see an increase in targets.
With Tony Romo out, it's probably best to avoid assets within the Cowboys receiving game when possible. Losing Witten -- who had racked up 10.07 Reception Net Expected Points on 17 targets through the first two weeks -- would only further lower that already bleak outlook.
