Bengals' Tyler Eifert to undergo season-ending back surgery
Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert is scheduled to undergo back surgery on Thursday, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Yesterday, Eifert was in Los Angeles to go over his options as he weighed surgery, and ultimately he opted for it. He is expected to be out four-to-six months following the procedure, and is also a free agent this winter. Tyler Kroft might be the Bengals' tight end of the present and future.
Over 5 seasons, Eifert has played in just 39 of 69 possible games since coming into the league in 2013. He has just twice played 9 or more games in a season while producing 127 catches, 1,537 yards and 20 touchdowns so far in his short, injury-ravaged career.
