Texans place J.J. Watt (knee) and Whitney Mercilus (chest) on injured reserve
The Houston Texans have officially placed defensive lineman J.J. Watt (knee) and edge defender Whitney Mercilus (chest) on the injured reserve.
Week 5 was a rough one for the Texans' pass rush, losing two of their most productive players. Christian Covington will likely replace Watt in the starting lineup, while Brennan Scarlett is expected to take over for Mercilus.
The Texans defense enters Week 6 ranking 7th in numberFire's Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play metric.
