Malcolm Butler unsure if he will start Week 3, Patriots may be looking for trade

New England Patriots defensive back Malcolm Butler is unsure if he will start in Week 3 against the Houston Texans.

What It Means:

After a brutal showing against the Kansas City Chiefs in the opener, Butler came off the bench behind Stephon Gilmore and Eric Rowe versus the New Orleans Saints in Week 2. He wound up playing 49-of-65 snaps in the victory, but there's some belief that Butler won't be in New England much longer. When asked if the fourth-year undrafted free agent would be traded, NESN's Doug Kyed replied, "it's looking that way."

Entering Week 3, the Patriots are fourth-worst in the NFL in terms of schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play. numberFire's models project Butler to record 3.5 tackles, 0.8 deflected passes, 0.2 interceptions, and 0.04 touchdowns versus the Texans.
