Christian McCaffrey has underwhelming day for Panthers
Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey rushed eight times for 10 yards in the Week 2 win over the Buffalo Bills, adding four receptions for 34 yards.
McCaffrey should have had a two-yard receiving touchdown too, but Cam Newton somehow threw the ball 40 feet over his head on a "gimme" play. The roles in the Panthers' backfield are pretty straightforward: Jonathan Stewart is in on early downs over McCaffrey by about 2-1, while McCaffrey dominates passing-game looks. Despite a quiet first two weeks, McCaffrey might finally make some noise against the New Orleans Saints' cardboard-cutout defense in Week 3.
McCaffrey was fairly inefficient as a runner in this game against a tough Buffalo front, earning just -4.17 Rushing Net Expected Points on eight carries. He did post 3.71 Reception Net Expected Points on five targets to help salvage his value today, however.
