Falcons' Austin Hooper could be on verge of breakout in second season
Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper played a career-high 79.7 percent (47-of-59) of offensive snaps against the Chicago Bears in the season opener.
Per Pro Football Focus via Fantasy Guru's Graham Barfield, Hooper also ran a route on 79.0 percent of Matt Ryan's dropbacks. Despite seeing just 2 targets in Week 1 (he caught both, finishing with 128 yards and an 88-yard touchdown), the Falcons clearly intend to use the second-year man out of Stanford more as a pass-catcher than a blocker, and that could yield season-long TE1 production for a member of one of the more explosive offenses in the NFL. Look for Hooper to get a couple more targets against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football in Week 2.
numberFire's models project Hooper (TE14 in our weekly fantasy rankings) to finish with 3.8 targets, 2.5 receptions, 34.2 yards, and 0.35 touchdowns in Week 2 while scoring 6.8 FanDuel points at a cost of $5,500 versus the Packers in Week 2.
