Shurmur: Vikings to keep Dalvin Cook as workhorse back
When asked if running back Dalvin Cook would see the same type of workload in weeks to come, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur praised the rookie back and said that he would.
While playing 78.46% of offensive snaps, Cook received 25 touches, including 22 rushes and 5 targets out of the Minnesota backfield in Week 1. Meanwhile, Jerick McKinnon got 11 snaps as Latavius Murray played just three. According to the Star Tribune's Andrew Krammer, Shurmur would like to give Murray more work, though, so Cook could sacrifice a carry or two this week.
In his Week 2 matchup, Cook is projected for 14.1 rushes, 3.5 catches, 81.6 total yards and 0.36 touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Listed at $6,700, our models like him to produce 12.0 FanDuel points, ranking 11th of all running backs and 2nd among those below $7,000.
