Alvin Kamara leads Saints backfield in Monday night loss
New Orleans Saints rookie running back Alvin Kamara led the team in carries (7), rushing yards (18), and snaps played (31) in Monday night's Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Kamara also caught 4-of-6 targets for 20 yards as the third-round pick seemed to benefit from the Saints playing from behind for the majority of the evening. Adrian Peterson started for New Orleans, but he finished with just 9 snaps while Mark Ingram tied Kamara with 11 touches on 26 snaps. The rookie saw carries between the tackles and it looks like he will more than a third-down option in the Saints' backfield. He won't be a recommended play in Week 2 against the New England Patriots, but Kamara should be owned in standard formats.
Kamara scored 5.8 FanDuel points in Week 1, more than double what numberFire's models projected (2.6) for his debut. He finished with -0.30 Rushing Net Expected Points, but that was more than both Peterson (-1.15) and Ingram (-1.42).
