49ers' Reuben Foster confirmed to have high-ankle sprain
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's 23-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed the injury but would not give a timetable for the rookie's return. Typically high-ankle sprains take four weeks to recover. Foster's absence in the middle weakens an already porous 49ers defense.
The 49ers entered the season as numberFire's 29th-ranked defense with a 113.36 defensive rating.
