Raiders take flier on linebacker Aldon Smith
The Oakland Raiders have agreed to a one-year deal with former San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith.
The 49ers released Smith after he was involved in a driving-under-the-influence and hit-and-run incident over the summer. The situation is still unresolved. It was another in a long string of off-the-field incidents that have forced Smith to miss 14 games over the past two seasons.
Smith -- if he's on the field -- could form a great pass-rushing combo with second-year linebacker Khalil Mack. The Raiders could use the help, too, after finishing 25th in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play.
