Buccaneers' O.J. Howard may disappoint fantasy owners in rookie season

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie tight end O.J. Howard's average draft position is TE15 in standard fantasy leagues, according to Fantasy Pros.

What It Means:

The Buccaneers selected Howard with the 19th pick in this year's NFL Draft, but fantasy owners may be overestimating the rookie's value this season. ESPN Bucs reporter Jenna Laine said in August that the rookie will likely contribute more as a blocker early on, while Cameron Brate will remain primarily in a pass-catching role. Howard's first NFL game will come at home versus the Chicago Bears in Week 2.

numberFire's models project Howard to catch 39.6 passes for 416.3 yards and 3.71 touchdowns in 2017. He's only our 26th-ranked fantasy tight entering the first week of the season.
