Aaron Donald expected to sit out Rams' opener

Los Angeles Rams holdout defensive tackle Aaron Donald is expected to miss Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

What It Means:

Despite head coach Sean McVay not ruling out a return earlier this week, this has been the expectation. Per Schefter, "no real progress" has been made in contract talks, and it looks like the Rams will be without their best player for a while.

If he joins the team before Week 2, numberFire's models project Donald to record 52.0 tackles and 9.5 sacks this season while also deflecting 3.0 passes and making 0.1 interceptions with 1.6 forced fumbles and 0.9 recovered fumbles.
