Lynch: Carlos Hyde 'to be featured' for 49ers

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said that running back Carlos Hyde will be featured but that Matt Breida would also be a part of the team's plans.

What It Means:

With a rookie backup in Breida and third-string unknown in Raheem Mostert, there was little doubt about who would be the main back in San Francisco, but Lynch's comments all but confirm that. It's reassuring for fantasy owners to know the exact situation in the backfield, too. If he stays healthy, Hyde should fulfill his top-20 spot in our preseason ranks.

Our Week 1 projections reflect Hyde's standing as the 49ers' feature back heading into the season. Up against the Carolina Panthers, our algorithms have Hyde down for 14.5 carries, 55.3 yards and 0.52 touchdowns in the home matchup. At $6,800, his 10.4 FanDuel points place him 14th among all running back options.
