Redskins sign Chris Thompson to two-year extension
The Washington Redskins have signed running back Chris Thompson to a two-year extension through the 2019 season.
At 5'8", 191 pounds, Thompson isn't an every-down back in Washington, but as Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine go back-and-forth for that job, Thompson will continue in his role as the team's third-down and passing back. As a part of the deal, Thompson will enjoy $6.5 million in guaranteed money, which should tell us that the Redskins will keep him heavily involved in their offensive gameplan.
In the past two seasons, Thompson has tallied a total of 187 touches, 1,161 yards and 7 touchdowns in 29 games. We project him for 88.8 touches, 574.3 total yards and 3.5 scores, making him RB52 in standard leagues. Thompson is much more valuable in PPR formats.
