Joe Williams (ankle) heads to season-ending I.R. for 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers placed rookie running back Joe Williams on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
A hot name this offseason, Williams had fallen on the depth chart by the end of August, and it is likely the 49ers were looking for an option to stash him. With Williams out for the year and Tim Hightower released, undrafted rookie Matt Breida is the back to own behind Carlos Hyde for fantasy purposes.
Prior to this news, our models projected Williams for just 165.4 yards from scrimmage and 0.64 touchdowns on 30.5 offensive touches during his rookie campaign.
