Sheldon Richardson

Sheldon Richardson dealt to Seattle by the Jets on Friday

The New York Jets have traded defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson to the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and draft considerations, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

What It Means:

Richardson, 26, has been on the trading block for seemingly forever by the Jets. While the former Defensive Rookie of the Year is highly talented, the team was turned off by his off the field troubles, which resulted in a four-game suspension in 2015 and a one-game ban in 2016. Richardson will form a ferocious defensive line in Seattle with Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, and Frank Clark beside him. He will be a free agent after the season.

Our models project Richardson for 72.7 tackles and 2.6 sacks for the Seahawks this season, while Seattle's becomes our 3rd-best fantasy defense with 169.3 points this season.
